Lifelong Learning

Education is a flame that never extinguishes in Jewish tradition. It’s a journey celebrated throughout life, an ongoing exploration of the vast wisdom embedded within the Torah’s teachings. Rabbi Howard Herman and the NJC congregation honor and rejoice in this devotion to continual learning, recognizing its profound impact on individual and communal spiritual, intellectual, and ethical growth.

Rabbi Herman fosters an atmosphere of kindness, honesty, and respect in his open classes, inviting vibrant discussions and the sharing of diverse opinions. These sessions, held on designated Friday afternoons, precede a delightful communal dinner, and are followed by the Friday Shabbat Service. This special gathering is eagerly anticipated by all—a rich  tapestry of social and educational experiences that spark personal development, ignite critical thinking, nurture creativity, and fortify a sense of communal support.
